7:30PM -Bruce Smith

No performer has graced the Safe House stage for more ferocious performances than Bruce Smith because he wails at a fever pitch, brings it all down to a whisper and rocks all the spaces in between, always maintaining intensity and integrity.  The Austin Chronicle writes, "Austin's Bruce Smith Band impresses, ...his songs bring together a wide-screen view that defies his youth."  Bryan Beck of KGSR Austin says Bruce Smith is a "great singer/songwriter,: and Austin agent extraordinaire David Cotton observes that "Bruce Smith is the fastest rising star at the Saxon Pub since Los Lonely Boys.”  His last album, “1000 Horses,” was released to excellent reviews, and his monumental “59 Stratocaster” - a Buddy Holly tribute tune - is destined for film scores. https://brucesmithband.com/

A young singer-songwriter with an amazing voice, and a special way with words. The Buddy Holly Kickoff is all about Discovery, and we are truly looking forward to getting to know more about this young man! Shaw is a native Texan who when not working on his music is dedicating his time to helping others. He works in human services helping people struggling with cooccurring disorder. Pulling inspiration from personal experiences life presents to us in which to learn and grow. Finding his sound in Americana, Blues, Folk, Roots, and adding some flavor of from his favorite artists he hopes to lean into a shared understanding of loving this world and leaving it a little better than we found it. https://www.instagram.com/rengawwahs/

Deuce Bennett and the Tight Five are 5 best friends who are also professional, educated, and working musicians that came together to perform music Deuce has been writing over the last 15 years. The music sounds like a modern take on classic rock with roots in jazz and blues. There are well thought out vocal harmonies, virtuosic guitar solos, great grooves you can move to, creative melodies, and emotionally charged moments. We always have some surprise guests who come to be entertained who we then talk into performing – and this year should be no exception. We will pass the guitar around, and we will be pleasantly surprised when a Sideman or Backup singer wails and convinces us that they should have been up front all the time. Rumor has it that you may be showing your best stuff Thursday – we shall see and be surprised!
